The National Toilet Association of Ghana (NTAGhana) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to advancing safe, equitable, and sustainable sanitation solutions across the country. We believe that sanitation is dignity, and that every Ghanaian, regardless of where they live, deserves access to clean, safe, and functional toilets.
Founded to respond to the urgent sanitation challenges facing Ghana, NTAGhana works hand in hand with government agencies, local communities, development partners, NGOs, and the private sector to improve sanitation infrastructure, influence policy, and transform behavior.
A Ghana where open defecation is eliminated, every community has access to proper sanitation facilities, and toilets are not just a basic need but a symbol of health, dignity, and development.
To promote and ensure universal access to safe, dignified, and sustainable sanitation for all Ghanaians through advocacy, education, innovation, and community-driven solutions.
Despite Ghana’s progress in improving water access, sanitation remains a pressing national challenge. Millions of people still lack access to safe toilets, and open defecation continues to affect public health, dignity, and the environment. The economic cost of poor sanitation in Ghana runs into hundreds of millions of cedis annually, through healthcare spending, lost productivity, and environmental damage.
NTAGhana exists to bridge this gap, to give every Ghanaian access to the dignity of a toilet, the health of clean surroundings, and the opportunity for a better future.
Using new ideas, technology, and local solutions to solve sanitation challenges.
Every human being deserves safe and private sanitation.
Sanitation must reach the poor, the vulnerable, and marginalized groups.
Toilets and sanitation systems must be built to last and maintained by communities.
Collective action delivers stronger and lasting impact.
