Private Sector-Led PPP

MTMJ employs a Private-Private-Public Partnership Model. Where manufacturers and suppliers of building materials are contributing to reducing youth unemployment by supporting micro-small-artisanal enterprises for the building of improved home toilets.

Nationwide Impact

MTMJ is a delivery system that is open to all stakeholders: members of NTAGH, micro-small works enterprises (SESNET-Africa, afrisesnet.org), government and development partner agencies. No RING-FENCING of participation of communities, technology type and funding sources.

Who we are

About Us

The National Toilet Association of Ghana (NTAGH) is a private sector led initiative with current membership made up of manufacturers of building materials used in the construction of improved home toilets. We provide wealth of experience in logistics management and value-addition sponsorship through voluntary, dedicated promotions for improved home-toilets ownership and thus support job-creation for youth and artisanal entrepreneurs engaged in sanitation construction business.

What We Do

Advocacy & Policy Engagement

We work with the relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies, local government authorities and other stakeholders to influence policies, budget and national strategies to increase access to improved sanitation.

Community-Led Projects

NTAGH supports the design, construction and maintenance of toilet facilities in public areas including schools, markets, etc. and rural communities. We also drive Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) programmes to eliminate open defecation.

Capacity Building & Training

In collaboration with other partners, NTAGH supports initiatives targeted at equipping sanitation enterprises, artisans and local government authorities with requisite skills needed to design, install/construct, manage and maintain toilet facilities.

Awareness & Behavior Change Campaigns

Beyond the physical interventions, NTAGH through its platform and partners support community sensitization campaigns aimed at good hygienic practices and sustainable operation and maintenance of home toilets.

Research & Data Mapping

NTAGH's platform provides a ready-to-use database for manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers in the sanitation industry, tracking material flow and home toilet facility interventions to inform decision-making and accountability.

Partnership & Collaboration

We partner with various government ministries, departments and agencies, local and international NGOs, private sector and donor agencies to scale-up sanitation interventions aimed at increasing access to improved sanitation as well as creating sustainable business and job opportunities for the youth.
